Giuseppe Maina
Full Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Turin
Giuseppe Maina, MD, is Full Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Turin and Chairman of the Psychiatry Unit at San Luigi Gonzaga University Hospital.
He has published more than 300 books and papers and serves on the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the steering committees of the Italian Society of Neuropsychopharmacology (SINPF) and the Italian Society of Psychopathology (SOPSI).
His research and clinical interests include complex psychiatric comorbidities, particularly the neurobiological and psychosocial overlap between mental disorders and substance use disorders.
He leads a translational research programme focused on predicting and preventing suicide in adults, including young adults aged 18 to 25.
He also studies sex differences in mental health trajectories, examining how mental disorders present and affect individuals differently across genders.
